Bent Pins on AMD Ryzen 5 CPU
This AMD Ryzen 5 CPU was brought to me by someone who hadn’t packed it properly in its plastic case. As a result of putting it upside down, around 3 or more pins were bent in every corner. This is not a task for the inexperienced are things can easily be made a lot worse!
Luckily we have a lot of experience in straightening bent pins and have a special process for this, which involves a Microscope, an IRDA welder and a craft scalpel.
This takes a lot of work, a good eye, patience and a steady hand, in addition to all the equipment of course.
It took around an hour but the persistence paid off and the pins were straightened to near enough perfecting. Sometimes when people have tried this, pins snap off or more pins get damaged. This kind of thing is very common with people building their first computer who don’t understand the CPU and socket alignment. Some people just try and force it in, in any old way and then stick the CPU cooler on top, then crush a whole bunch of pins.
